SUMMARY:WEBA Network Gatherings 2017
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Network Gatherings\, taking place during the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation\, will focus on transformation and the Word of God. \nWe hold four Network Gatherings so that everyone in our churches can get to one of them. Many churches cancel an evening service on these occasions so that we can gather together for worship\, sharing\, and to hear God’s word as a wider network. \nThere are two remaining Network Gatherings during 2017: \n Sunday 7th May – Upper Stratton Baptist Church\, Green Rd\, Swindon\, SN2 7JA.\nSpeaker: Alisdair Longwill\, WEBA Regional Minister \nStart time: 6:30pm. SUMMARY:WEBA Ministers' Conference 2017
DESCRIPTION:  \nBookings for the  WEBA Ministers’ Conference 2017 are now closed and we are thrilled to say that all available rooms have now been taken. \nWe may be able to consider a late booking if you have been able to negotiate sharing a room or suite with another attendee. \nThe conference is an opportunity for those in pastoral leadership (ie the key leadership roles in our churches) to share spiritual refreshment\, biblical insight\, and theological stimulation while spending time with friends and colleagues. \nWe warmly welcome spouses of those serving in minstry roles\, retired ministers\, and other church staff members who wish to come along. This year we are particularly encouraging those serving as paid youth or children’s workers to join us at the conference. We are excited to welcome Jim Barker from the Church Mission Society and Ed Kaneen from South Wales Baptist College as our key speakers. \n \nSaunton Sands Hotel is a stunning venue for the Ministers Conference. All rooms are ensuite and the hotel overlooks the sea. There is a swimming pool\, spa and leisure club on site as well. \nIt is the responsibility and privilege of each church to pay the full costs for its minister to attend the conference\, and there should be no reason for anyone in pastoral leadership in a WEBA church not to be able to attend for financial reasons. If you have any queries about this\, please contact Nigel Coles. \n \n  \nA programme for the conference will sent to attendees soon.

SUMMARY:AGM and Summer Gathering
DESCRIPTION:For the past three years we have combined the WEBA AGM with a chance to meet at one of our churches and share food together on a summer evening. \nThis year we are returning to Hanham Baptist Church in Bristol\, who provided an excellent BBQ for us three years ago\, and have promised to do the same again! \nClick here for details of Hanham Baptist Church (travelling directions at the bottom of the page) \nThe AGM will be at 7pm\, preceded by a BBQ in the church garden at 6pm\, weather permitting. \nEach church has a responsibility to send one voting representative to the Association AGM. Others are welcome to come along and hear what God is doing among our churches and missional communities. \nThere is no charge for the AGM or BBQ\, but we do need you to register for both catering and voting purposes. \nYou can do this at https://webaagm2016.eventbrite.co.uk\, or by contacting the WEBA office at office@webassoc.org.uk or on 0117 965 8828. \nWEBA’s annual report and accounts and a short agenda for the business meeting are available to download here: \nReport and Accounts Download Now! \nAgenda Download Now! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Hearts and Minds Conference
DESCRIPTION:A day conference mainly for Baptist ministers\n‘Hearts and Minds’ is a day conference offered by Bristol\, Regent’s Park\, and South Wales Baptist Colleges. It is intended mainly for Baptist ministers working in pastoral ministry or chaplaincy (that is to say\, those who do not generally have the opportunity to present papers at academic conferences). It is particularly aimed at those who enjoy thinking\, reading\, and grappling with theological issues\, such as practical theology\, biblical studies or ethics. \nIt is an opportunity to offer a short (20-30 minute) papers in an encouraging\, friendly environment; and in turn to engage thoughtfully with the contributions of others. Feel free to offer a paper on any broadly theological subject\, or simply come to enjoy the work of others. Our keynote speaker\, Ian Stackhouse\, will be addressing the subject ‘Held in Love: A Theological and Pastoral Response to Dementia’. It promises to be a stimulating day\, but contributors are needed to make it so! Do consider joining us. The day is free\, and lunch is provided at a cost of £5. Please see the flyer for booking deadlines.

SUMMARY:Network Day: I am the Lord who heals you
DESCRIPTION:Network days are provided by a church\, cluster\, or network within WEBA on a theme they are especially passionate about\, and want to share with the wider WEBA network. \nOur second Network Day for 2016 focusses on healing. \nSam King\, minister of Calne Baptist Church\, explains: \n“At Calne Baptist Church we have been longing to explore in more depth the issue of ‘healing’ in the life of the church. Many of us were inspired on a weekend at Lee Abbey 2009 by the then Director of Resource\, Martin Cavender. So as we looked around for help we discovered that Resource were running a programme which has had very good feedback. It is a delight for us to be able to welcome them to share with us over the weekend. If you have a desire to explore the topic of healing in more depth you are welcome to join us.” \nThis day of worship\, teaching\, and prayer will be led by Kevin and Anne Roberts of ReSource\, an Anglican charity which works for the renewal of people and churches for mission in the power of the Holy Spirit. \nwww.resource-arm.net \nKevin is Archdeacon of Carlisle and Anne Chaplain of the Cumberland Infirmary. However\, Kevin has recently been appointed as Director of Resource and Anne as Palace Pastor for the Bishop of Bath and Wells and the Palace Trust. \nTo book a place please contact revsamking@talktalk.net or phone 01249 812389. \nThe organisers are suggesting a donation of £10 per person towards the cost of the day\, which will include lunch. \nRefreshments will be served from 9:30am\, with the first session at 10am. \nDownload a poster to print here: \nDownload Now!

SUMMARY:Forge England and Wales Bristol Launch Weekend
DESCRIPTION:We will launch the South West ‘hub’ for Forge Training\, delivered by ForMission Training\, on the weekend of the 15th – 17th April 2016.\nWe can now confirm that the cost will be just £495 for the year long course\, including training weekends and coaching\, or £850 for those wanting to gain academic credit. There are bursaries available to individuals from WEBA churches – contact alex@seventy-two.network to register your interest.\n \nWhat is Forge?\nFounded by Alan Hirsch and Michael Frost now delivered by ForMission Training\, Forge cultivates missional communities around the world by identifying\, developing\, and training missional leaders\, teams and practitioners. \nForge aims to mobilise ordinary people to become missional and thrive in whatever context they are called to. This may be in pioneering new things\, church planting\, working in and through an already existing church\, or serving in a local community\, professional or relational network. The Forge network is led by active missional practitioners who are able to offer significant experiential training in pioneering contexts. \nWhat are the key components?\nTraining: 9 days per year (usually 3 weekends) at training Centre across the UK\, participants learn about the Missional Church\, Missional Lifestyle and Missional Leadership from experienced trainers in practical ways. \nCoaching: Each participant receives 8 coaching sessions throughout the year\, by a trained coach to help them connect training with everyday living. \nPeer Group: Each participant joins a Peer Group that meets 6 times a year for learning\, support\, prayer\, reflection and encouragement. \nPlacement: Each Forge participant will explore new missional opportunities within an existing or new setting. This is where the training and coaching can be lived out practically. \nFormation: Each Forge participant will be encouraged to develop theologically and spiritually through the training and coaching\, ongoing reflections and social media that are designed to support life and missional formation. \n  \nWhat will it cost?\nThe Forge training course is offered in two ways: \n£850 for credit \nAcademic credit for Forge participants is offered in two ways. Firstly\, it is available to all students currently undertaking the BA (Hons)\, DipHE\, CertHE\, Foundation Degree and Top-up Hons courses in Theology and Mission at ForMission College. Forge is an elective module at level 5 and sits within the College’s situational ministry programme\, with a value of 30 credits. For other Forge participants seeking academic credit\, ForMission College is able to offer 30 credits through our accreditation of prior learning (APL) programme. These credits can be used to count towards further qualifications (up to and including any level 5 programme) taken at ForMission College. Where the learning outcomes of the Forge Programme fit with courses offered by other academic institutions\, they may also be able to offer APL credit. \n£495 for non credit \n  \nWho are we looking for?\nWe are looking for passionate people who are keen to mature as Christians exploring ways in which they can more fully engage in missional living. They must be open to learning\, growing\, working with others and willing to take risks and step out in an adventure with God. \nWhat do I get out of this?\nIn taking the Forge programme you will: \n  \n1) Build theological and biblical foundations of mission for life\n2) Develop skills and tools to discern your missional context\n3) Be coached in developing more effective contextual missional strategies\n4) Form missional habits and attitudes that revolutionise the way you see yourself and the world around you\n5) Discover your gifts\, passions and shape for missional leadership\n6) Be equipped with practical skills and tools to become more competent and effective in forming and developing missional communities\n7) Grow in your faith as you step into new missional adventures\n8) Join a new community with travelling companions that will support and encourage you\, as you learn to take risks for God and for the kingdom \n  \n \nBristol: Launch Weekend: April 15th-17th\, 2016\nFor more information contact: alex@seventy-two.network\nor visit formission.org.uk/trainings/forge

SUMMARY:WEBA Ministers' Conference 2016
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe 2016  Conference will take place from Monday 22nd to Wednesday 24th February\, and at a new venue – Saunton Sands Hotel in Braunton\, North Devon. Here’s a video to introduce you to the hotel: \n \nThis is a big change after several decades in Sidmouth\, but we are trying Saunton Sands on the recommendation of our brothers and sisters in the South West Baptist Association\, who made the same move a couple of years ago. \n“Saunton Sands Hotel provides a delightful venue for the SWBA Ministers’ Conference. The excellent food\, comfortable lounge/bar areas with lovely sea views provide a relaxing setting and the staff look after us very well. Highly recommended!” Kathryn Morgan\, retired minister\, SWBA. \n“Good surf (sometimes)\, great food (always)\, views to die for\, an extremely well stocked bar and luxurious armchairs to lounge in until the early hours of the morning catching up with friends.  These are just some of the attributes that have helped to make the last few SWBA ministers conferences the best we’ve had.  Well-chosen speakers and inspired worship has meant that body\, mind and soul have all been ministered too.” Malc Reddaway\, minister of Roselands Community Church\, SWBA \nOne of the things they’ve told us is that several of their pastoral leaders have been coming to the conference with their spouses – perhaps in part thanks to the wide range of hotel facilities which include a pool and golf course! Whether taking part in the conference sessions\, or relaxing in the hotel\, we hope that the conference will be a time of refreshment for ministers\, others in pastoral leadership\, and spouses who would like to join them. \nOur main speaker this year will be Stephen Holmes of the University of St. Andrews. \nThe deadline for bookings has now passed\, which means the hotel has now reserved rooms for those booked in. We are happy to take late booking requests\, but cannot guarantee that the hotel will still have space available. Please complete the booking form below and send to the WEBA office by email or post – we will request payment once we know whether a room is available. \nDownload the booking form here: \nDownload Now!128 Downloads

DESCRIPTION:Following our Jesus at the Centre theme for network gatherings two years ago\, we are moving on to the next of WEBA’s Core Convictions: Discipleship at the Core.\nThe deepening and widening of discipleship is perhaps the primary challenge for the UK church today. This is essentially a service\, so we’re not taking bookings\, but if you are bringing a group from your church and would like to let us know rough numbers\, that will be very helpful for us and for the host church. \n
