DESCRIPTION:Churches across the country are gradually becoming aware of what they need to do to prepare for the new General Data Protection Regulation which comes into force on the 25th May 2018.  We have now secured a block booking for WEBA churches at one of the last training seminars offered by ACAT\, the Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers. Instead of a maximum of £35\, members of WEBA churches can book a place through us for just £15. \nThe seminar is on Saturday 24th March at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Galmington\, Taunton\, TA1 4TP\, from 10am to 1:15pm. DESCRIPTION:This event has been arranged jointly by the WEBA and the Baptist Union Legal and Operations team.\nThis is an opportunity to find out more about the new legal structure for charities known as the ‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’ or CIO for short. It will be of interest to charity trustees who are considering the options for the legal structure of their church and also to those considering the CIO as an option for a community project such as a pre-school or coffee shop. \nThe day will include input from BUGB Legal Services Manager Caroline Sanderson and Jenny Smith from Anthony Collins LLP. Topics that will be covered include: \n\nBaptist church governance and charity registration\nWhy change your legal structure?\nThe difference between a charitable company and a CIO\nThe process of incorporation as a CIO.\n\nThere will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions! \nThis event is open to any interested Baptist church\, whether or not they are in membership with WEBA.
